Organization from Switzerland posted this Technology CallSeeking Low Temperature Catalytic Technologies for Oxidation of Methane to Carbon DioxideMethane is the main component of natural gas and a powerful contributor to climate change. Although it does not remain in the atmosphere as long as carbon dioxide, it is in fact 86 times more powerful than carbon dioxide when the atmospheric warming impact is considered over a 20-year period. The reduction of methane emissions is therefore a critical factor in the mitigation of global warming. In order to reduce the emissions of methane from industrial sources, we are seeking robust catalytic technologies for the oxidative abatement of low concentrations of methane under varying conditions for a range of applications. Due to the high stability of the methane molecule, we believe that an innovative catalytic approach is required. Potential applications include methane abatement in engines, gas turbines, mining and extraction technologies. In these applications, the thermal stability of the catalyst is important. However, the central challenge is to design catalytic materials that exhibit the highest activity at the lowest temperature while remaining resistant to poisons present in the exhaust gases.
Organization from Switzerland posted this Technology CallSeeking Chemical Additives to Prevent Plugging in PipelinesFlow assurance is relevant for all processes where materials or fluids are pumped through pipelines e.g. blood in veins, sewer lines, and production processes. Undesired deposition of solid deposits in pipelines can lead to plugging. Besides mechanical solutions, different concepts based on chemical solutions are known. Such chemicals can prevent plugging of flow lines by solid deposits by inhibiting agglomeration, dissolution of solid deposits or inhibiting the formation of deposits. We invite proposals from technology partners with relevant chemistry in place for novel chemical additives that can be used in at least one of the above mentioned concepts to avoid deposition of solid material in pipelines.
Organization from Switzerland posted this Technology CallSeeking Calcination Technologies for Inorganic Materials Under Corrosive AtmosphereHigh temperature treatment of inorganic materials is an important unit operation in the production of inorganic high performance materials used in ceramics, energy storage and as catalysts. The required volume goes up to several thousand tonnes per year. During the process, crystalline phases are formed, sintering occurs and combustible or volatile ingredients are removed. Current technologies often employ ovens for batch-wise operations and rotary kilns for the continuous mode. While these technologies are scalable and reliable, we are seeking partners with technologies for the high temperature treatment of an inorganic material under an atmosphere of air, steam and corrosive gases (hydrogen chloride). The new technology is preferably less energy demanding, less capital intensive and easy-to-apply.
