Coronavirus (COVID-19) Innovation Challenge

The Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak was declared a national emergency in the United States in accordance with section 201 of the National Emergencies Act. The Secretary of Defense announced several measures to protect the Joint Force and the Public and U.S. Commanders received delegated authority to make further decisions based on their own assessments in order to protect their people and ensure mission readiness.

There is an open call for innovative capabilities to address the impacts of COVID-19 on public safety and national security. The innovations and solutions collected will be shared by default with a wide network of Government personnel engaged in the current challenge.

Description

On March 13, 2020, the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak was declared a national emergency in the United States in accordance with section 201 of the National Emergencies Act (50 U.S.C. 1621). Further, the Secretary of Defense announced several measures to protect the Joint Force and the Public, including enhanced health care protocols, Force Health Protection guidance, and travel restrictions in conjunction with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). U.S. Commanders received delegated authority from the Secretary of Defense to make further decisions based on their own assessments in order to protect their people and ensure mission readiness.

Several challenges exist in the response and containment of the COVID-19 outbreak, including in the areas of detection, testing, analysis, and mitigation. Yet there are other challenges stemming from the response to the outbreak that need to be addressed in novel ways in order to mitigate adverse impacts on private and public structures, systems, and institutions. Further, additional challenges in the national security realm remain such as in Bio defense and information operations.

This is an open call for innovative capabilities that addresses the challenges presented by COVID-19, as well as its resulting impacts on public safety and national security processes, systems, and resources. The innovations and solutions collected will be shared by default with a wide network of Government personnel.

Submission Instructions

Please fill out a scout card to summarize your innovative solution / capability and select one of the designated submission areas. Provide a short and descriptive title, as well as concise technical descriptions and associated information in related fields. We recommend you provide visual depictions as necessary in the form of graphics and/or videos. You can also provide 3D models if applicable.

Furthermore, you have the option to include document attachments such as technical papers as appropriate. Your information will be disseminated by default within a secure network of U.S. Government users who are currently working on challenges related to the COVID-19 outbreak.
