Join the upcoming innovation event "FT Innovation Dialogue 5 - The Change Challenge" held in London, United Kingdom by Financial Times Live.

Discover how innovation leaders are implementing change in their companies to reduce red-tape and to cultivate a more inclusive workplace environment - one in which new ideas can flower, and through which innovation can easily flow.

Ideas, the raw material of innovation, are everywhere. The danger is that we end up looking in the same places for them all the time. Good ideas aren’t exclusive to the C-suite. Those further down the ranks are often closer to the technology and cultural shifts that are taking place, and can provide great insights as well.

But workforces, like the management that governs them, can be blighted by homogeny: everyone is just like everyone else. In the sphere of ideas and creativity, homogeny begets more of the same. More of the same is an enemy of innovation. Bureaucracy (ideas get stuck) and hierarchy (ideas don’t get seen) are enemies of innovation.

How can innovation leaders implement structural change to reduce red-tape, make decision-making more horizontal and cultivate a more inclusive workplace environment - one in which new ideas can flower, and through which innovation can easily flow. What are the technologies that might help facilitate this? And, crucially, how can the power at the center get out of the way of the exciting new ideas happening at the edge?

This brand-new training course will provide a complete insight to writing and submitting competitive proposals in response to the last calls of Horizon 2020, and this time only, we also included an intensive one-day training on the set-up of a competitive ITN (Innovative Training Network) proposal.

The combination of practical presentations and hands-on workshops will introduce all aspects that you need to know from identifying the right call for your project idea to developing and submitting a competitive proposal.

Join Europa Media’s Horizon 2020 Proposal Writing Academy + one-day intensive Marie Skłodowska-Curie (ITN/ETN) proposal writing and obtain the essential skills for writing a competitive proposal under Horizon 2020 and ITN. After going through a simple exercise, you will be encouraged to pursue a new way of thinking: impact driven proposal development.

You will then proceed with developing your proposal concept step-by-step: defining sound objectives, designing an effective work plan with work packages, defining an ideal consortium, and putting together a realistic budget. The impact and exploitation workshops will teach you how to draft the Expected Impact section of your proposal and identify the best scenario for exploitation and IP strategy.

During the Dissemination and Communication workshop, the participants will define the relevant target groups and the most appropriate dissemination and communication tools, channels and strategies for disseminating and communicating the results of the project with a view to maximizing its impact. Third day of the course is dedicated to the evaluation of H2020 proposals. You will become an evaluator and experience first-hand the evaluation process to better understand this critical stage of the selection process in Horizon 2020 and conceive your H2020 proposals in this light in the future. Fourth day will be entirely dedicated to Marie Skłodowska-Curie (ITN/ETN) proposal preparation, where our expert Juliane will guide you through the basics and key aspects of the ITN proposal writing and submission. This fast-track course is intended to provide a complete insight into the successful set-up of an Innovative Training Network through a mix of lectures and interactive exercises.

The training will primarily focus on ’Part B’ of the project, but also cover the main set-ups of ITNs, the EU and evaluators’ expectations, and tips and tricks from successful coordinators.

The evaluators will then conduct their individual assessment of the H2020 proposals, filling in their Individual Evaluation Reports (IER), after which they will gather with their fellow evaluators for consensus meetings. Once the consensus reports are drafted in each panel, final ranking will be established, which will serve as the basis for the allocation of budget amongst the highest ranked proposals.

While a research unit is critical to the success of the organization, efforts dedicated to R&D process improvements can be challenging. High costs and long time scales coupled with difficulties in anticipating the changing market and customer needs, put pressure on R&D groups to perform.

A holistic and integrated approach to both product development and innovation within R&D process is a strategic imperative.

This September in Berlin we are uniting R&D and innovation experts to discuss the pioneering approaches to driving greater R&D efficiency.

Below is a snapshot of some of our talks

> R&D as a service function, a business partner or the core of the business?
> How to address innovation and research topics in a world of short-term business needs?
> How to select the most promising ideas? How to recognize the need for change?
> What is the right time to invest in new technologies?
 > How to sustain a transformational impact on R&D centers?
> How to adopt realistic KPI for open innovation?

The EU-Startups Summit 2018 will bring together about 750 founders, startup enthusiasts, corporates, angel investors, VCs, as well as media people from all across Europe. The one-day event is a great opportunity for networking, and a meeting point for aspiring entrepreneurs and investors who are aiming to build international tech companies. We will have fireside chats with internationally successful founders out of the Internet space and an exciting pitch competition with 15 startup teams! At the EU-Startups Summit 2018, we’ll have several high profile entrepreneurs and investors among our speakers. During the EU-Startups Summit, we’ll also have a big pitch competition with 15 of Europe’s most exciting early-stage startups. The pre-selected startups are going to pitch their business idea within a 3-minute-presentation in front of the audience and an expert jury of well known investors. The winner will receive an awesome prize package worth about €65,000. The application phase regarding the pitch competition ended on February 25. The 15 finalists will be announced soon! In contrast to the pitch competition, we’re going to bring 15+ investors on stage who will briefly introduce their investment firm/focus in front of our audience. A list with all the investors who already signed up for the the EU-Startups Summit will be published soon. We’ll also have a panel discussion with some of Europe’s best startup accelerators. Leading figures of the following 5 accelerators will join us on stage: StartupWiseGuys, METRO Accelerator, MHP, Startupbootcamp and TechStars. More info can be found here.
