Join us in Cambridge for the Future of Open Innovation Practices Day, on February 13th 2019.

This full day of interactive workshops and talks will showcase tangible mechanisms for facilitating stakeholder interaction to ensure science’s impact on society and the markets.

Expect valuable insights from both Academia and Industry, with keynote speeches from Dr John C Taylor, Professor of Innovation at the University of Cambridge and Head of the Institute for Manufacturing (IfM), Dr. Tim Minshall, and RICARDO's Chief Technology and Innovation Officer, Neville Jackson.

The event is the culmination of EC funded project Science2Society, researching the future of interaction between universities, industries and broader society as a whole. Science2Society is one of very few projects that explore the future of innovation ecosystem interaction mechanisms, particularly borrowing best practices from Internet 2.0 and 3.0 platforms and communities.

The consortium is excited to share their key findings and recommendations with attendees, to support the ongoing innovation learning process.

While a research unit is critical to the success of the organization, efforts dedicated to R&D process improvements can be challenging. High costs and long time scales coupled with difficulties in anticipating the changing market and customer needs, put pressure on R&D groups to perform.

A holistic and integrated approach to both product development and innovation within R&D process is a strategic imperative.

This September in Berlin we are uniting R&D and innovation experts to discuss the pioneering approaches to driving greater R&D efficiency.

Below is a snapshot of some of our talks

> R&D as a service function, a business partner or the core of the business?
> How to address innovation and research topics in a world of short-term business needs?
> How to select the most promising ideas? How to recognize the need for change?
> What is the right time to invest in new technologies?
 > How to sustain a transformational impact on R&D centers?
> How to adopt realistic KPI for open innovation?

Join the upcoming innovation event "FT Innovation Dialogue 4 - Customer-centric Innovation" held in London, United Kingdom by Financial Times Live.

Our 4th Innovation Dialogue will take a practical look at how corporates are redesigning their innovation processes to bring customer intelligence from the outside, in.

Customer-centric innovation turns traditional innovation models inside-out. Conventionally, ideas are sought inside a company with the product and service innovations they produce delivered to customers outside the company.

Customer-centric innovation, conversely, takes some of this process outside, by collaborating with consumers in the external environment and spaces they inhabit and then bringing their ideas back in.

It’s not a new concept, but as businesses move from a transactional to experiential mindset to stay in tune with evolving consumer expectations, it is an increasingly popular one. It means lots more winning ideas, engenders brand loyalty, creates a sense of community, and reduces the risk of new products and services failing to thrive in the marketplace because they are not really what consumers want.

FLA: Design Thinking & Innovation Week

19 - 23 March, 2018

London, UK

Design Thinking Innovation Week created by Future London Academy. This is a unique programme for creative entrepreneurs, designers and business owners – introducing you to London's most innovative businesses and uncovering the latest approaches to design thinking and innovation. Every day will consist of lectures, roundtables and visits to the top companies who adopted the human-centred approach, where you will meet the teams behind their latest research and innovation. Some people call our format a 'design safari', some say it's a VIP behind-the-scenes experience or a research trip. During the week you will also explore the latest trends and discoveries in virtual reality, artificial intelligence, sustainability and future of technologies. You will learn about the latest approach to creativity, product management and business management – and have the opportunity to ask any questions in an informal atmosphere. All lectures and workshops will take place in the actual agencies giving participants a better context of the topic. This programme is designed to give you inspiration for your work, to help you get an expert opinion on your current projects, and keep you up-to-date with the latest trends in the industry. Programme structure Every day will consist of various activities to maximise your learning experience. Morning session: it is the first session of the day, it will take the form of a lecture, roundtable or a workshop in one of London's top companies. Lunch break: between the morning and afternoon sessions we will have a short break when you will have an opportunity to have lunch and enjoy the surroundings of the day programme locations. Afternoon session: it is the second session of the day, where you will have a chance to visit another top London agency and listen to their team revealing secrets they use in everyday work. Debrief and the city: after a long day of absorbing new ways of working, innovating and creative thinking we will debrief the content of the day to better organise them in our minds. This activity will be short and engaging and it will take place straight after the afternoon session in locations that we can then visit as cultural and social activities such as museums, galleries, event spaces or bars.
