We are sharing our direct experience with successful and unsuccessful proposals under the 2014-2018 calls and giving all the practical knowledge we have on proposal writing through a set of exercises focusing on a real H2020 call topic. Trainers are actual Project Managers and Proposal Writers This course is built on our direct experience gained over the past 17 years from developing and submitting proposals and implementing projects under the EU's Research Framework Programmes. The trainers of Europa Media are actual project managers, coordinators and financial administrators of EU-funded research and innovation projects. They are currently involved in more than 15 successful ongoing Horizon 2020 projects as project coordinator, work package or task leader, and are on a daily basis conceiving and developing their own project proposals under the open and forthcoming H2020 calls. This course is designed based on this direct experience and is therefore 100% practice-driven. 2. Exercises from concept development till the budget Experience Europa Media's well-known "learning-by-doing" approach – hear only one introductory presentation introducing the rules of the game with examples, then practice, practice and practice - during the practical and interactive workshops. Develop a project proposal in response to a work programme topic (“call”). As a start: After going through a simple exercise, you will be encouraged to pursue a new way of thinking - a method to ensure that you get started in the right way. You will then further develop your proposal concept step-by-step: defining sound objectives, designing an effective work plan with work packages, creating a Gantt chart and PERT diagram, defining an ideal consortium, and putting together a realistic budget. Impact and Exploitation workshop: You will draft the Expected Impact section and identify the best scenario for exploitation and IP strategy. Dissemination and Communication workshop: Participants will define the relevant target groups and the most appropriate dissemination and communication tools, channels and strategies for disseminating and communicating the results of the project with a view to maximizing its impact. HOW: Lectures and workshops on Proposal Development and Project Management Experience Europa Media's famous "learning-by-doing" approach – presentations in the morning, then practice your newly-gained knowledge during the workshops specifically designed for the particular topics: Proposal Development Develop a project proposal in response to a work programme topic (“call”). Getting started: After going through a simple exercise, you will be encouraged to pursue a new way of thinking - a method to ensure that you get started in the right way. You will then further develop your proposal concept step-by-step: defining sound objectives, designing an effective work plan with work packages, creating a Gantt chart and PERT diagram, defining an ideal consortium, and putting together a realistic budget. Impact and Exploitation workshop: You will draft the Expected Impact section and identify the best scenario for exploitation and IP strategy. Dissemination and Communication workshop: Participants will define the relevant target groups and the most appropriate dissemination and communication tools, channels and strategies for disseminating and communicating the results of the project with a view to maximizing its impact. Technical and Financial Project Management Effectively implement your projects and ensure sound financial management After successfully submitting their proposals, the participants will understand how to get a Horizon 2020 project started on the right foot, receive practical tips to ensure an effective technical implementation of the project, and go into the issues of financial management and reporting. During practical workshops, you will discuss real-life case scenarios related to project coordination, working with partners, dissemination, project's amendments and you will go thorugh specific exercises to simulate budget planning, budget monitoring and financial reporting in an H2020 project. During this training course you will learn how to tackle budget transfers and reallocations, controlling overspending, managing underspending and conducting reporting. You will also prepare a financial statement for a virtual H2020 project based on specific project documentation with salary slips, invoices, receipts, timesheets and other proof of costs. WHO: Trainers are experienced Project Managers and Coordinators This course is built on our direct experience gained over the past 18 years from developing and submitting proposals and implementing projects under the EU Programmes, in particular, FP5/6/7, FP6, FP7, CIP, LIFE/LIFE+, LLP and Horizon 2020. We have developed and submitted several proposals under Horizon 2020, went through grant agreement preparations for those projects which have been successful, and now managing our H2020 projects as coordinator or partner. Our trainers and workshop leaders are flesh-and-bone project managers and coordinators, whose day-to-day work is to turn innovative project concepts into competitive proposals and implement projects according to EC Grant Agreement, tackling problems promptly, and assisting project partners in legal, technical and financial management issues. Lectures and Workshops on Financial Rules and Reporting This fast-track course is intended to provide a complete insight to Horizon 2020 financial issues through a mix of presentations and a hands-on workshop: The day will start with an extended presentation covering from A to Z all of the issues of Horizon 2020 financial issues. After this, you will go through Europa Media's famous financial reporting workshop to simulate financial reporting under H2020: together with your group mates, you will fill in an actual financial statement for an H2020 project using custom-made documentation including timesheets, salary slips and invoices. After the workshop you will go over some pragmatic approaches in reporting; Point-by-point assessment of the prepared financial reports: Format, content; overall principles, possible bottlenecks, what should and should not be included. The second day will finish with a step-by-step guide on how to report costs, deal with deviations, and internal allocation issues. Handling the EC requests for clarification, suspension of payments and other issues with a hands-on approach. Is this training right for me?
