The European Commission DG Enterprise identifies to the most successful business innovations and latest trends in order to better understand the needs of innovative businesses and frame them into new supportive policies for access to markets and finance.
Netting business and production processes with one another, smart factories draw on IT systems to optimise the use and capacity of machines, react to production defects, and minimise adverse impacts. As such, smart factories are a key component of the fourth industrial revolution.
