Seeking existing market solutions targeted towards crawling insects |
| |
The issue of crawling insects in homes has been an ongoing issue. The popular types of crawling insects causing problems have been ants and cockroaches. The search will focus on existing market solutions targeted towards crawling insects such as ants and cockroaches (other types of crawling insects are in scope i.e., bed bugs). |
Seeking technologies to reduce GHGs in all aspects of the supply chain and manufacturing process. |
| |
PepsiCo is committed to reducing GHG emissions from seed to shelf. We are looking to engage with partners who can assist us in our goal of reducing GHG 20% by 2030 and achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. As new technologies emerge, efficiencies will be gained and PepsiCo aims to remain at the forefront of best practices in the food and beverage industry. PepsiCo is seeking technologies to reduce GHGs in all aspects of the supply chain and manufacturing process. Solutions may be in one or more of the following areas: • Agriculture – sustainable farming and the reduction of GHG intensive fertilizers • Manufacturing – adopting energy efficient manufacturing processes; novel methods for utilizing waste; use of renewable thermal energy at scale • Packaging – alternative packaging materials and formats that reduce GHGs • Distribution – technologies to assist in the efficiency of our company-owned and third party fleet |
Seeking Glue-free and Plastic-free closure of paper packaging |
| |
We are looking for a technology to seal paper packaging materials (paper only with no plastic coating) without using traditional glues or any other additive. For a sustainable packaging application, we're looking for a technology to seal or crimp kraft paper without using glue or plastic coating applied on the paper. Ideally, we want to seal 100% untreated paper without adding any other chemicals. Our preferred solution would be a folding of the packaging material |
Artificial reefs for safe and sustainable marine habitat regeneration |
| |
A multidisciplinary group of researchers from the University of Alicante has developed a new system for the formation of artificial marine reefs and underwater structures with porous calcareous coating using electric current. The system is characterised by the fact that it starts from a lightweight metal base of any geometric shape –with the possibility of assembly– and the final structure can be easily transported and placed, or fabricated in-situ. During the processing stage, substances are released into the environment that favour the development of phytoplankton and are harmless to the habitat, thus establishing a greater diversity of marine species on the structure itself. This device allows the restoration of marine ecosystems, the purification of marine waters in aquaculture farms, as well as the sustainable exploitation of marine leisure (recreational diving). Companies interested in acquiring this technology for commercial exploitation through licensing agreements are being sought. |
Fast and non-sequential measurement method for the light response of chlorophyll a fluorescence |
| |
New method for the measurement of the in vivo emission of chlorophyll a fluorescence by photosynthetic organisms, through the generation of light-response curves with independent observations, measured in a non-sequential and much faster way than the existing methods. The method combines the (i) projection in the sample of spatially separated light beams of different intensity or quality, using a digitally-controlled projector, with (ii) the measurement of the emitted fluorescence as a response to each light beam using an image fluorometer. |
Precursors of linear polyacenes: entry door to new semi-conductor materials |
| |
A new strategy for the preparation of precursors of linear acenes has been developed. The developed acene precursors are hydrogenated acenes and are stable upon storage. They can be prepared in several synthetic steps using two catalytic key preparation steps. The precursors can be deposited onto surfaces and submitted to annealing to generate the linear acene. This strategy afforded the first-ever preparation of undecacene. |
