Description of the technology offer

Microelectronic faces the problem of intrinsic adaptation of computational and memory ressources in function of real-time needs, that makes the systems overdimensionated for some functions and bottlenecked for the others. Moreover, a limited damage in part of the IC is usually fatal to the whole microcircuit despite the major part of the IC is still operable. Allowing memFETs to change their function between memory, transistor or switch would allow to convert unused memory into logic element to speed-up data processing in case of necessity; or to relocate damaged functions in operable areas to make the IC repare itself in harsh environment.

The invention consists of a reconfigurable crossbar architecture formed by memFETs. The memFET is a voltage-controlled electrically reconfigurable device based in the field effect and resistive switching phenomena that can be used to implement logic functions and memory blocks into a crossbar structure simplifying both the design and the implementation of computing hardware.
