Metal removal and chromium (VI) reduction by using wastes from agro-industries
Description of the technology offer
Removing metal ions from wastewater using a low cost technology based on the use of agro-industries wastes as sorbents. Cr(VI) reduction is achieved by contact of wastewater and the wastes; neither reagents nor energy are required. This technology is an alternative to the traditional treatments that are costly and no biodegradable.
New and innovative aspects
This technology is suitable for electroplating industries and in general industries whose wastewater contains metal ions.
The wastes whose potential use as sorbents we have investigated are: grape stalks from the wine production industries and exhausted coffee from the instant coffee manufactures.
