Seeking natural colors for foods and beverages |
| |
PepsiCo is evaluating different natural color ingredients and technologies to replace Yellow #5, Yellow #6, Red #40, and Blue #1 for multiple food and beverage brands in order to address consumer demand. Specific challenges are in the Red #40 (food) and Blue #1 (food & beverage) replacers. |
Seeking existing market solutions targeted towards crawling insects |
| |
The issue of crawling insects in homes has been an ongoing issue. The popular types of crawling insects causing problems have been ants and cockroaches. The search will focus on existing market solutions targeted towards crawling insects such as ants and cockroaches (other types of crawling insects are in scope i.e., bed bugs). |
Seeking Glue-free and Plastic-free closure of paper packaging |
| |
We are looking for a technology to seal paper packaging materials (paper only with no plastic coating) without using traditional glues or any other additive. For a sustainable packaging application, we're looking for a technology to seal or crimp kraft paper without using glue or plastic coating applied on the paper. Ideally, we want to seal 100% untreated paper without adding any other chemicals. Our preferred solution would be a folding of the packaging material |
Patterned surfaces for physical entrapment of drug particles |
| |
Easy-to-apply device composed of a transdermal patch with microsize patterns such as micropillars, able to efficiently entrap the maximum amount of drug particles at the microscale and release them in a controlled and sustained manner. The maximum amount of entrapped drug microparticles is enabled by the similarity between the micropillars spacing in the patch and the microparticles diameter, enhancing the dose of the therapeutic compound administrated, decreasing the need of frequently replacing the patch. |
Next-Generation Lignocellulosic Materials |
| |
SDG implementation dictates the utilization of renewable natural resources. Woody biomass is a useful renewable organic resource. Plant cell wall is mostly made of polysaccarides, cellulose and hemicellulose, and lignin, which are linked together in a highly complex structure and comprise the bulk of trees’ biomass. Despite high potential of lignin, it is mostly discarded or burnt as a byproduct in the pulp and paper industry. Therefore, among the structural biomass compounds only the polysaccharides are used for various applications. The present invention is a novel method of biopolymer isolation including high quality lignin. |
Electric motor with electromagnetic piston |
| |
A powerful electric motor whose piston surrounds a coil. The motor has a mobile and fixed piston, connected to a power source, which induces a magnetic field generating attractive and repulsive movements, pushing the piston along a longitudinal axis with sufficient force for applications in industrial machinery as loading and unloading, large boats or heavy vehicles. |
